Types Of Incontinence Pads
Pads are usually made up of impermeable sheets of material (usually many layers of it). They can be used as many times as you like after washing, and are regularly used in the bed or sleeping area of a patient.
The two main types of incontinence pads are light and heavy. In most situations the light pads will be enough but you should consult your doctor about this.
The pads can come in many different forms and for many different purposes. For example they can line the inside of underwear, or even be the underwear itself (see incontinence pants). As you’d expect there are many different companies that create these pads, so it can be difficult to know which one choose. If you can’t go on a recommendation from a docotr or friend then the best thing to do is try several different types to see which one suits you best.
There are also many different sizes of incontinence pads. Some are made the size of a bed sheet so they can be put over the sheet for night time use. Others are much smaller and discreet than can fit inside the users underwear. There are also pads made for men.
Some companies that manufacture incontinence pads include Tena, Invacare and Members Mark. As mentioned earlier it usually comes down to personal preference which one you choose, so try a few different ones out to see which you like best.
You’ll also need to decide which size of pads you want. If you want a mattress pad in most cases you’ll pay around $30, while for smaller pads it can be in the region of $10 for a pack. Remember that in most cases they are reusable.
